I WANT THE BABY BUT NOT THE ACNE
During pregnancy our bodies change. Our moods change. Our taste buds change. And sometimes our skin changes. Being
pregnant can be a roller coaster in many ways – especially the change to our
hormones.
Hormones – like when we become teens change,
and this can result in teen acne. It can
be a difficult time being pregnant and having acne, as a result of the
pregnancy. Being pregnant MEANS we have
to be careful about what we use during the pregnancy as everything we do may
have an effect on our unborn child.
Usually the first trimester (three months) of
your pregnancy is when you will see the changes to your skin. The good news is it does usually go away
after the birth and in many cases it will probably improve and may even
disappear during the last trimester. Breastfeeding is a great way to get on top
of the acne problem, as it seems to settle the hormones.
The biggest caution I can give you expectant
mummies is NOT to take anything that hasn’t been approved to take during
pregnancy. Check with your doctor.
Keep your skin clean and eat a healthy
diet. Basically do everything you would
do for a healthy pregnancy.
There is a product which has good feedback
and endorsed to be safe during pregnancy.
I am an advocate of natural products, but I
know that for many going natural doesn’t help and they need stronger
intervention.
